![]() While this may sound like an unlikely setup, for someone riding a bike, it can be a nice way to add some fun to your ride. There's a certain background hissing audible most of the time, especially at loud volumes, but the tiny speaker can actually convey not just a stereo sound, but a soundstage, if you keep it about one meter away from you, and mostly placed in front of you. The sound has the typical Bluetooth compression applied, but you most probably won't notice it much, as much as the bass roll-off. Happily, it can take some EQ and the headroom is not quite that limited, but in its default state Force 2 sounds quite midrange-forward and is focused sounding, has a strong treble, and good overall detail. I actually am able to enjoy the speaker in its default state, but I find it much better with some drastic EQ. I initially wanted to make a funny video about how I'm using it, but I realized we don't have the budget for it, so we switched to making a full written review. ![]() ![]() Images from the series also appear as part of Reflektor, a group exhibition at the Neue Sächsische Galerie Chemnitz, from 6 December-2 February 2023.The speaker is rated to have sound between 60Hz and 20kHz, and has a weight of 627 grams, being slightly heavier and less portable than smaller options, but promising better sonic performance. The book Chamber Play is published by Kammerspiel. It immediately destroys the last illusion of an authentic nature." ![]() "The cable tie functions like a fracture, a rupture in our visual habits. "It is not just the cable-tie restraint from the plant's packaging that is purposely left in the picture, but also the unnatural bending of the stem and, above all, the texture of the petals born from silicone foam that reveal these calla lilies as imitations: rolled up, bound together, squeezed into little boxes like sardines, and imported from faraway lands. "A single blossom is turned toward us, almost as if it were gazing at us with a look of suffering," writes Pamela. Most strikingly, the series features a mixture of real and fake plants, and the viewer is deliberately left confused about which. The precision of his images allows us to meditate on the nature of transience, the passage of time and ageing, Pamela explains. They are simultaneously food porn and superfood for the eyes (and mind) after a long day at the screen - something besides the consumption of visual fast food for a change." "Through their (also technically) complex staging and the resulting effect of confusion, Stolz's chamber plays present our sense of vision with a challenge. Stolz's series, however, represents an antidote to this chaotic, visual tsunami. "Perhaps our sense of vision has actually become somewhat worn down through the flood of images that have also been created through image-based phenomena like Instagram." "These photographs present a challenge to our eyes," writes Pamela Pachl, PhD, in her explanatory text to the book. Kammerspiel / Chamber Play #100, 2021 © Claus Stolz and VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2022
